What to Expect-7th grade Drama

Weeks 1-2: Intro to Theater arts (Rules and Procedures). 
    The first two weeks of theater arts we will work on becoming an ensemble and proper audience etiquette. We will also learn about what makes a good actor or actress (focus, courage, risk taking). 
 
Week 3: Symbolism
This week students are learning about symbolism and making connections between theater and real life. In order to pretend to be someone else we must understand how we are all connected in some way. Students will complete their first assignment this week: My Symbolic Life. They are to create a symbol for themselves, their life or their motto. This will be due a week from the day it is assigned. More instructions and the rubric can be found in google classroom. Student's first assessment will be given at the end of week 3.
 
Week 4-6: The Rules of Improv
   Students will learn about the 9 Rules of Improv to become better improvisers. Students will be in preparation of developing their very own script through improvisation. Asssessment #2 will be given at the end of week 6. 
 
Week 7: Improvisational Theater Prep
     Students will prep for their final performances.
 
Weeks 8-9: Final Performances
Students will present their improvised skits.
